Your Privacy

When you subscribe to Dee's mailing list, request a music download, submit a testimonial, ask to have a show emailed to you, or fill in any contact form on the site, you provide your name and email address. After that interaction completes successfully, the site saves those details to a small file called localStorage — a storage area built into your own web browser, on your own device.

On your next visit — and every visit after that — the site reads that file before the page loads. If it finds your name and email, it uses them to personalise your experience: greeting you by name in the hero, pre-filling forms so you don't have to type your details again, and showing you a small music joke just for fun.

That's the entire mechanism. There is no login, no account, no tracking pixel, and no server call made on page load to look you up. The recognition happens entirely inside your own browser.

Every form on this site that has an email field performs a silent subscriber lookup as you type your email address — before you press submit. Here is exactly what happens:

• After you stop typing for about half a second, the site sends your email address to the server and asks: "Is this person already a subscriber?"
• If you are a subscriber, the server returns your first and last name. The form fills them in automatically and may show a personalised confirmation so you don't have to re-enter information you've already given.
• If you are not a subscriber, nothing happens — no error, no message, no change.
• Results are cached for the duration of your browser session. The same email address is never looked up twice in one visit.
• A small gold spinner appears briefly in the email field corner while the lookup is in progress.

This lookup is the only server call the site makes based on something you type before submitting. It does not store anything new — it only retrieves information you already provided when you subscribed. If you are not a subscriber, the server receives your partial email address during the lookup but does not store it.

Forms where this lookup is active: Mailing List, Music Download, Show Email, Testimonial, Booking Inquiry, Radio Play Request, and Website Feedback.

Up to four pieces of information may be saved in your browser's localStorage under the key df_visitor:

• First name — used to address you personally.
• Last name — stored alongside your first name.
• Email address — used to pre-fill forms and identify you as a returning subscriber.
• Date of birth — only stored if you voluntarily provided it when subscribing. Used exclusively to send you a birthday greeting email from Dee.

This data lives only in your browser, on your device. It is never transmitted to any server just because you visited the page. It is never shared with third parties. It is never used for advertising.

If you subscribed to Dee's mailing list, your name, email address, and optional date of birth are also stored in a private subscriber file on the server that hosts this website. This is separate from your browser's localStorage.

That server-side record is used only to:

• Send you show reminders, new music announcements, and personal updates from Dee.
• Send you a birthday greeting email on your birthday (if you provided your date of birth).
• Verify that you are a subscriber when you request a free music download.

You can remove yourself from the server-side list at any time by visiting the Mailing List page and using the Unsubscribe tab. Your record will be marked as unsubscribed and you will receive no further emails.

This site uses Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site in aggregate — which pages are visited, how long people stay, and where traffic comes from. This only activates if you accepted analytics cookies via the cookie banner when you first visited.

Google Analytics does not receive your name or email address. It sees an anonymous identifier tied to your browser session. You can change your cookie preferences at any time using the Cookie Preferences link in the footer.

The visitor recognition system described above (your name and email in localStorage) is not a cookie and is not controlled by the cookie banner. It is stored only after you voluntarily submit a form, and you can remove it using the button at the top of this page.

This page is updated whenever a new feature is added to the site that affects how your information is collected, stored, or used. The goal is that you can always come here and get a complete, current picture of what the site knows about you and why.

Current features that involve personal information:

• Mailing list subscription — name, email, optional date of birth stored server-side and in browser localStorage.
• Music download requests — name and email used to email a one-time download token; not stored beyond the token expiry.
• Show email requests — email used to send a single show details email; stored in browser localStorage for returning-visitor recognition.
• Testimonial form — name and email collected; email used to identify you as a returning visitor and pre-fill the form.
• Booking Inquiry, Radio Play Request, Website Feedback — name and email collected for the purpose of responding to your inquiry. Email triggers the live lookup to pre-fill your name if you are a known subscriber.
• Live email lookup — on every form with an email field, your email address is sent to the server as you type (after a short pause) to check whether you are a subscriber and pre-fill your name. See the section above for full details.
• Personalised homepage greeting — first name read from browser localStorage; no server call made.
• Music joke strip — shown only to recognised visitors; uses first name from localStorage; no data sent anywhere.
• Google Analytics 4 — anonymous session data collected only with your consent via the cookie banner.
